Young adults (ages 18-25) often find that life after high school is full of difficulties, perceived failures, and unexpected challenges. What some call ”failure to launch” might mean struggling to be successful in a college setting, finding it difficult to control use of alcohol or other substances, having a hard time with relationships, or just feeling lost and uncertain about who they are.
Discovering and developing one’s authenticity is a challenging yet important task for young adults. Questions bringing a young adult to therapy might include:
- Who am I?
- What should I do with my life?
- How do I get unstuck?
- What is at my core?
- Can I find the courage and self-compassion to confront my demons?
- How can I create a more nuanced understanding of who I am?
- Will I be liked, respected, worthy, enough if I live more authentically?
- How do I compare to others? Am I enough?
If you have asked these questions and not found answers, you are not alone, and you can benefit from therapy.
